“Viacom executives are in London negotiating the purchase of LastFM, the London based “online social music network” (read: internet radio station), according to a music business source familiar with the negotiations. The purchase price is said to be $450million” Of course, it’s just another rumour in a sea of swirl, but it’d be interesting if it was true. I’d be surprised - I think they’re more likely to be doing deals with labels to stay independent.

Eek - I hope not. I was recently telling people who didn’t like the Yahoo/Flickr login merge to “care about something that matters” but my first reaction to this is “if it happens, I’m out of there pronto”.
I guess I heart Last.fm, but only use Flickr…
Interesting.
I was wondering at FOWA why Apple hasn’t made a play for them. I think this far more overlaps Apple and iTunes than Viacom.
Still I can’t see l.fm not being bought soon. They just offer too much in a space that is desperate to connect to users properly (as opposed to the music industries normal method of suing users)
