Classic silly-season article on the concept of surname-meshing when people get married.
Paul and I considered this (for about 12 seconds) when we got hitched, until we realised that the available options were:
Picky
and
Tweedard
That latter one sounds like something an Eastenders character might say to the barmaid in the Old Vic, doesn’t it?
We opted against, unsurprisingly.

Why not? Our options would have been:
Rones
or
Jose
I do know a couple called Cowes and Cadbury and their children are Cowbury.
Hyphenation is the other alternative. The problem is, what happens if you already have a hyphenated surname?
Mind you, you don’t always need to change a name to have something that sounds silly. We had a bloke in our 6th Form (how many years ago was that??) who was called Dave Kurten, and we were always encouraging him to ask out this girl called Annette. Oh, how we laughed.
