Get out of my way

Get out of my way

I noticed the other day that the phrase which pops into my brain with most regularity when out and about in London is:

“What a STUPID and THOUGHTLESS place to stand”

I find myself saying it (silently, or as a murmur) to people loitering RIGHT OUTSIDE shop doorways.

Or people who get through the tube exit barrier and then just come to an abrupt stop.

Or people who think that the best place to stop and have a conversation with their friend and their pushchairs would be right in the middle of the pavement in the middle of a busy day. Excellent plan. I mean, it’s not as if anyone would want to get past or anything, is it?

I figure that if they can give out parking tickets for stupid/dangerous/thoughtless/illegal parking, then I should be able to do the same for people standing in the same gormless way.

So I’ve created my very own Standing Violation notice, which I shall start giving out, starting with the very next thoughtless moron who decides to try to text-message someone while walking down the street very……. slowly……. indeed.
