Lightening the Load

Perhaps in anticipation of a (as yet, unscheduled) move, or perhaps in an attempt to rid myself of some of the stuff I’ve been carrying around for years, I’ve been in a load-lightening frenzy these past few days.

Big sacks of clothing to whichever random charity was lucky enough to post a big pink bag through the letterbox this weekend; books to Oxfam, relatives, and thinking about listing some on Amazon; wondering whether it would be worth getting a car boot sale pitch one sunday morning and selling off all the old videos/books for some nominal amount.

I don’t know why, but I feel like I need to lighten the load significantly.

Part of this is systematically going through my CDs and listing the extraneous/saleable ones on Amazon. I have around 500 in total, and I just don’t listen to most of them. I had them and kept them because I was at a point where having something was important - when holding a physical thing made the owner feel that they had been justified in spending £14 or whatever on it.

Not any more. It’s not that the CDs are bad (some are) or undesirable (someone will want them), just that I don’t want to have the physical stuff anymore. I’m not listing every CD I have - there are some that I curiously want to keep, or realise that the market is flooded with duplicates at the moment and no-one will want to buy - just the bulk of them. Most practically unused, most in perfect condition.

Anyway, they’re listed on Amazon UK marketplace here: Meg’s marketplace listings.

I’ve only got as far as “C” at the moment, but I’ll continue to work my way through the shelves. It’s a fairly odd selection, but if you find anything to tickle your tastebuds, feel free to snap it up or make me a (non-amazon) offer.

Some things currently on offer are listed below, but for a full view of the collection and what might be coming up, see this page which provides a list of all the things on the shelf as of a couple of years ago. If you specifically want anything on the list and not yet on Amazon, make me an offer.
