A new media whore - noomeejahoor (pronounced as it is written) - is a person who works in the new media industry, and who has a passion for the potential of the medium, a taste for technology, a loathing for morons in suits, but an understanding that you sometimes have to play the game to make things work.
A noomeejahoor is a person who gets excited when using whiteboard markers and doodling large in company, but feels ridiculous giving presentations in strategy meetings to people who don’t Get It, a person who thrives and finds massive comfort, encouragement and happiness in discovering other people who Get It.
A person who would rather be writing, be creative, be anywhere, be honest than be in yet another meeting, figuring out how to monetize the web, but who is also a realist and who recognises that there just aren’t enough jobs for dreamers, and that’s why lunch-hours and duvets were invented.
A noomeejahoor, in other words, is me.

I am intrigued — what recipe do you recommend for “playing the game”…
As a linguist/poet on the side, today I was thinking about writing a poem about a Recipe for Constructing a Self and fell on your website. I was thinking about the poor scotsman, Soutar who was confined to his bed and wondered why he had to “sacrifice his body to create a self” —
So… not “stealing your idea” — but defining, writing, constructing, examining what makes a “self” has been a popular human activity for a longer time than perhaps we know.
And perhaps even morons in suits and more people than we know are dreamers and wonderers wandering. or wanderers wondering.
