Beyond

With a bad headache and a new sofa to contend with, last night I switched off the computer and dealt with other things.

Let me share this with you, friends, because you may not already be aware….There is a whole world beyond the cathode ray tube. Yes! I know! Incredible!

There are real people to interact with - like, at the same time and right in front of you and everything! Plus there’s, like, fresh air and outdoors and books and stuff. There’s even this marvellous invention called - wait for it, you’ll love this - “bed” where you get to lie around doing nothing for hours at a time.

I know, I know, I’d never have believed it myself. I’m not making this up, though. It’s all true.

And you know that place where you spend the majority of your week? The place where they pay you to show up? That place? Well, get this: you can arrange to take days off and just not show up and they still pay you. It’s called “holiday”, and it’s bloody brilliant. You don’t have to get on a plane or anything.

You can just spend the day bimbling about and going to the gym and packing for your weekend away and not only do you still get paid, you actually feel loads better for doing it, too, and it could mean you don’t collapse from nervous exhaustion or stress related disorders a few weeks down the line.

Just amazing. Who’d have thought it?
