Lazy morning. This was the weekend that didn’t seem like it was ever going to arrive.
Hunting through my browser history, I present the sites that I visited this week with the intention of writing about, but didn’t quite get around to doing anything about:
- CBeebies site - on which I was looking for information about the new CBeebies series Balamory, currently being trailed every five minutes on terrestrial and digital channels. It’s a kids show set in a town in Scotland - and from the images in the trailer, it’s filmed entirely in Tobermory, the quaint and colourful main town on the Isle of Mull. However, nowhere seems to be able to confirm this…
- SDSailor’s scripts - because a mIRC channel I occasionally visit has the tagline “In memory of SDSailor” and I was itching to know who and why. Turns out he was responsible for creating the impressive filesharing script that is used in so many IRC channels now, and he died of cancer last year.
- Going Bridal - for reasons I’m not entirely clear on, I followed a click-trail,and ended up on this site, and then went through to others, where I must have spent a good half an hour looking at a perfect stranger’s wedding photos.
- happeningchickstacey.com - on Monday (maybe) I was spodding while the telly was on in the background, and heard a character in a BBC drama, Bedtime (reviewed here by the inimitable Nancy Banks-Smith) piped that she had a website called happeningchickstacey.com. Since I was sitting at the computer at the time, I typed in the address, expecting it not to be found, because TV companies are usually lazy and don’t bother following through with details like that. I was surprised and vaguely impressed that Hat Trick productions had bothered to register the domain, though not actually go as far as putting anything on the site. I take it all back.
- In the process of looking for info about Bedtime, I came across Urban Bedtime Stories which sounds like it was an interesting experiment.
- Stelios - big jovial Greek billionaire.
- Adopting with Amy and Nathan - not sure how I stumbled across this, but it seems to be a letter telling the world how keen A&N are to adopt. How is this used? How is this promoted? Is there a directory or something? Or do they hope expectant and unhappy mothers will come across their page?
- Amazon Wishlist - which I was prodding about on after receiving The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People out of the blue from Wolfgang - but with no message or contact details - so thank you! I’ll try to be more effective from now on…
- Bardweb synopses - for my German cousin, who was going to see Antony and Cleopatra at the Haymarket and wanted to get a vague idea of the storyline before he went, in case the language proved tricky.
- Shakespeare in German - because we were trying to remember what Twelfth Night was called in German. I got 10/10 on the quiz, which I’m very proud about because my German is rustier than a very old bucket.
- Interface pirate radio schedule - on which I’m very pleased to see that Tops is spinning again, live from the Caribbean on Wednesday night. Jolly good!
- David Dickinson - a scary orange man, and the gurning presenter of the BBC’s Bargain Hunt show. I don’t watch it. But I saw a scary orange man on the box, and I had to find out who it was.
- Monarch of the Glen - a guilty pleasure, and returning on Sunday night for a new series. Hoorah. *blush*
- Internet Magazine interview with Ev at Pyra - a reader let me know that this site is also mentioned in the print version of the article. Does anyone have a copy hanging around?
- Oh, and this Bloggers’ Disclaimer
And can I just point out that someone nearby is cooking bacon, and the smell is driving me nuts?
